The May 2024 regatta in Croatia brought not only the traditional sporting competition, but also a new social dimension, which was a great success.
The 24th edition of the regatta, which took place from 27 April to 4 May, attracted 140 competitors. They competed in the Elan E4 and Bavaria 415 categories, with the popular night navigation leg being the biggest challenge. The challenging conditions, including everything from no wind to a strong 35 knot southerly, thoroughly tested the abilities of the participants, with ten boats failing to complete the race.
One of the new features of this year's event was the "singles boat project," where crews made up of people who did not know each other beforehand competed under the guidance of an experienced skipper. This concept proved successful, with the team led by skipper Jan Hirnšál winning both their Bavaria 415 category and the entire race. The May Regatta Chronicle, which has been newly introduced, will offer competitors the opportunity to record events they wish to keep as a memento.
Registration for the next edition, the 25th anniversary edition, which will take place from 26 April to 3 May 2025, has already opened. Next year's edition will retain the current format, including new features, with the addition of three new categories - Salon, First and Fun.
